The Basics

Newport Beach is a fantastic vacation get away even if it’s just for the day!  Take advantage of our stunning beaches and coast line, indulge in some luxury shopping or take the kids for a stroll at the Balboa Fun Zone. Of course there are plenty of water sports as well, from sailing and surfing to diving and even SUP yoga classes! There is something here for everyone to enjoy but you need to get here first.

If you’re already in Southern California it’s an easy drive otherwise we’re right next to John Wayne Airport and just a short distance from the Irvine Amtrak station. Once you’re here you’ll want to take advantage of the 100’s of restaurants, from hole in the wall (but delicious) Mexican joints to some of the finest dining in the world. It’s all here for the taking. If you’re here for more than a day trip, Newport Beach has all levels of accommodation. Getting Here by Car:

From Los Angeles (~50 miles) – Take the 5 or 405 freeways south to the 55 freeway south towards Newport Beach. Take the 55 freeway until it ends. This will get you to the Balboa Peninsula. If your destination is one of the other neighborhoods of Newport Beach take the 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) and head North or South.

From San Diego (85 miles) – Take the 5 freeway north to the 405 freeway north then take the 55 freeway south towards Newport Beach until it ends. This will get you to the Balboa Peninsula. If your destination is one of the other neighborhoods of Newport Beach take the 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) and head North or South.

From Inland Empire (Temecula, Riverside, San Bernardino) – Take the 15 freeway north to the 91 freeway west. Keep left towards the 55 freeway south towards Newport Beach until the freeway ends. Keep ahead straight on Balboa Blvd. and you’ll reach Balboa Peninsula. Or watch for the signs that lead to Pacific Coast Highway and that will take you to the neighborhoods of Corona Del Mar, Balboa Island and Newport Coast.

Getting Here by Plane:

Newport Beach is conveniently located next to John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County, California. All of the major Newport Beach hotels offer shuttle service from the airport.  There are also all of the major car rental counters, taxi and other ride options if you prefer.

You can also fly into LAX, Long Beach, Ontario or San Diego and then make your way to Newport Beach.

Getting Here by Train:

The closest station in Orange County is the Irvine station.  From there a short trip up the 405 and then south on the 55 gets you to Newport Beach.
